Epilepsy Awareness

I post two or three times a week about an “Awareness Treasury”.  I would like to explain what that is and how you can help me promote Awareness on Etsy.  I am sure that most of you  no idea about what Etsy is much less what a Treasury is. I will try to explain both.

If you love anything handmade (jewelry, crafts, art, etc) you will love Etsy.

Etsy is a website that provides the general public with a way to buy and sell handmade items as well as vintage items and craft supplies. Handmade items cover a wide range including art, photography, clothing, jewelry, edibles, bath & beauty products, and toys. The site follows in the tradition of open craft fairs, giving sellers personal storefronts where they list their goods.

My store Cheryls Purple Cow is on Etsy. I sell Handmade Jewelry including Awareness Jewelry, Crafts and some Vintage Crystal.

A Treasury is basically a poster that shows 12 items from different Etsy Artists chosen by a Curator. Sometimes there is a theme (Valentine’s Day, Green things), sometimes the items are just things the curator likes and sometimes the items are from shops that are friends or teammates of the curator. Treasuries only last 48 to 72 hours.

In my case most of the Treasuries I curate are filled with Awareness items. I want to have the topic of Awareness to gain recognition on Etsy and the Treasuries are one way for me to do that.

A Treasury is not designed for self-promotion. It is in very bad taste to include more than one of my own items in my Treasury.

You don’t buy anything at a Treasury. If you are really interested in an item you can go to the item listing from a Treasury to make a purchase.

A Treasury is ranked by the number of clicks and comments. Clicking on each item in a Treasury increases the rank. Commenting on an item increases the rank. The only requirement to comment is that you have to register on Etsy.

I love reading the comments from people who explain why they are so interested in supporting Awareness. some of them even make me cry and that’s a good thing.
